Dear WACA Area 6 People,
I am Susie Bennett your WACA Area 6 representative. Many of you I have met in the past, but I wanted to introduce myself at the beginning of the year just in case we haven’t met yet. You might be wondering, what is WACA? WACA is the Washington Activities Coordinators Association and I am representing you on our state board. Area 6 encompasses Yakima and Klickitat counties. Periodically, I will send out emails related to WACA. Please email me if you would like to unsubscribe from this list and I will remove your name.
Yesterday, I returned from our fall board meeting at Camp Cispus. Here is what I learned that I wanted to pass along to you.
1. Check out our webpage at www.wacaonline.org. There are a bunch of resources that could really help you out. A new area is the video library. There are over 200 videos that have leadership lessons. Make sure to preview them so they are appropriate for your age group, but please use this excellent resource.
2. Registration is open for our yearly conference which is in Yakima this year. Yea! The dates are March 11th-13th, 2015. If you register 4 or more people from your district, you get a discount. Since we don’t have to pay for hotel or mileage, this is the year to send a big crew. See www.wacaonline.org for all the registration details.
3. Nominations are open for our Hall of Fame award. This is a great opportunity to nominate someone who had impacted you and/or students in activities throughout the years. Guess where to go for the nomination information? You guess it. . . wacaonline.org.
4. O.K. All of my points refer to our website. So here is one more. We want our idea section to be vibrant and have new ideas added on a regular basis. Please submit your ideas on our webpage. Even if the idea isn’t your original idea, share it. We are stronger together, sharing each other’s ideas.
5. Lastly, we wouldn’t have a conference without presenters. We want you! You could either present at a Meet the Pros session (quick 10 minute session that you repeat several times) or during one of our 50 minute breakout sessions. This is the gold of our conference. Please consider sharing your amazingness with the rest of us.
Thanks for your time in reading my update. Please email me if I can be of assistance. Have a wonderful week!
