See you in Tri-Cities, WA for WACA on March 11-13th, 2026
Greetings WACA Members,
I remember attending my first WACA Conference in 2017. The previous two years I had started as an ASB Advisor and simply used what we had done in the past. Something wasn't right. I felt like we needed to make changes but I didn't know where to turn to ask questions or find answers to the problems I was facing. My associate principal suggested I attend WACA. I had no clue what it was or what I was getting into but I knew I needed to get some new ideas and talk to people who could help me. Leaving that conference, my brain was full of new concepts, systems, and adjustments to my program. I had a notebook full of notes from keynotes, breakout sessions, and conversations, plus I felt reenergized from being around so many other people who understood what I was going through and who could offer tips and advice, because they have been there.
Thus began my journey of the last ten years as a WACA delegate, an Area 4 Rep, and now getting to serve all of you as WACA President. This organization, and our conference, provides people with hope, compassion, networking, and professional development that pertains to our unique roles within our schools. Your WACA Board strives to create an annual conference that is meaningful, relevant, and inspiring so that attendees go back to their schools and help to create positive school cultures that foster a sense of belonging.
In 2027, we are excited to host our next WACA Conference with the theme: Leadership Finds A Way. We will look back on the past of student leadership and activities, where we are currently, and where we are headed. Reflection is key to growth. Looking back on what we have done, are doing, and will do is something we do when we practice empathy mapping or evaluating program activities at the end of each year. I believe that the work we do in our buildings is imperative for students to feel connected, valued, and loved.
Our annual conference continues to help create different strands for more than just ASB Advisors and Leadership teachers. We are expanding our offerings to administrators, club/class advisors, culture builders, bookkeepers, CTE educators, and more. Whether you are brand new to your role or someone who has attended WACA for years, your WACA Board is eager to help you and to support you, both at the conference and throughout the year. Feel free to connect with the WACA Board via our emails, our WACA Instagram, WACA Facebook, or via the information on our website. We are here to help you in any way we can.
Thank you for building positive school culture in your school. We look forward to seeing you March 10-12th at the Three Rivers Convention Center in Kennewick for WACA: Leadership Finds A Way.
Kind Regards,
David Volke
WACA President
