Create a Culture of Selflessness: James Chapman, TEDxUTChattanooga
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Chattanooga is a team and if you live here then you play for our team. The only way we will maximize our overall talent is to be completely selfless. We must think of ourselves as one neighborhood, one community. We cannot be so concerned with being the best individuals that we forget to assist the people who live, work, and play with us. Our positions of leadership must set the tone. We all must be intentional about assisting each other in personal and professional development. Furthermore, we are only as strong as our weakest link. So if some players are disadvantaged, we must make a conscious effort to uplift them.

Why Leaders Eat Last: Simon Sinek

Understanding this deep-seated expectation is the key difference between someone who is just an "authority" versus a true "leader."
