For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Jen Nelson and I am the Area 9 Rep for WACA (Washington Activities Coordinators Association). Those of you who do know me… I’M BACK. As well as the lovely informational emails regarding the annual conference and any other tidbits of information that I add. Honestly, I do hope these emails are helpful and if you have any information that you have found and would like to share with others, please send it my direction and I will add it into an all area email. As always, if you have moved on from your position and would no longer like to receive an email, please let me know. Also, if you know of someone who should be receiving the email and are not…please send me their name and email address.
I recently returned from our fall board meeting at Camp Cispus. Here is what I learned that I wanted to pass along to you.
1. Registration for the 2015 conference is now open. I encourage you to complete it online and simply fax your PO to the number listed. Easy, quick, and nearly paperless! Also, if you bring 4 or more people, you get a discount! See www.wacaonline.org for all the registration details.
2. Nominations are open for our Hall of Fame award. This is a great opportunity to nominate someone who had impacted you and/or students in activities throughout the years. Guess where to go for the nomination information? You got it. . . wacaonline.org.
3. Thanks to our own Area 9er…Ryan Healy…please check out the WACA webpage at www.wacaonline.org There are a bunch of resources that could really help you out. There are over 200 videos that have leadership lessons. Ryan has put in many hours to make this website and resources user friendly and a go-to for anyone. THANKS RYAN!!!!
4. O.K. All of my points refer to our website. So here is one more. We want our idea section to be vibrant and have new ideas added on a regular basis. Please submit your ideas on our webpage. Even if the idea isn't your original idea, share it. We are stronger together, sharing each other’s ideas.
5. Lastly, We want you! We wouldn't have a conference without presenters. You could either present at a Meet the Pros session (quick 10 minute session that you repeat several times) or during one of our 50 minute breakout sessions. Please consider sharing your AWESOMENESS with the rest of us!
Those of you who attended last year’s WACA conference…There have been some questions regarding the yearbook. Tim Turner, past president, has been in contact with the company. When I have more information, I will pass it along to you.
I hope your year has started off well. Good luck to all of you who are attending the AWSL Fall Conference at Capital High School and Olympia High School…Another shout out to one of our Area 9ers…Angel Elam!!!!
Happy Wednesday!
