November Update

11/12/2014

Dear WACA Area 6 Advisers and Leadership Teachers,

Wow!  It is hard to believe November is here already.  Many of you probably have Veterans Day assemblies today.  Mine is this afternoon.  Good luck everyone!

In preparation for Thanksgiving, I received the attached lessons on gratitude from AWSL (Association of Washington Student Leaders).  Maybe you already received it, but I wanted to pass it along just in case.  During our advisory class, we are doing a gratitude lesson.  These resources can be a big help.  Also, if you haven’t had a chance to check out the AWSL website, it has lots of great resources and ideas.  You will find it at http://www.awsp.org/resources/studentleadership

Well, before the busyness of the holidays begin, I wanted to remind you about the WACA (Washington Activities Coordinators Association) conference in March.  As you probably already know, it is going to be in Yakima this year March 11-13.  What a great opportunity for us to host people from around the state and get to learn from other incredible leaders.  To register, go to http://www.wacaonline.org/  We are hoping to have our highest number of delegates yet for Area 6.

Lastly, I would love it if you would share your assembly speaker ideas with me.  Sometimes if a person is in town, we can get a better rate if more schools use that same speaker while he/she is in the area.  So, in that vein, I am having Stu Cabe come to Selah Middle School on September 10, 2015.  If you are interested in booking him, here is his contact info http://ovationcompany.com/  He will be at WACA too if you want to meet him.

Also, does anyone have a good idea for a speaker for a Martin Luther King, Jr. assembly?  I would appreciate some suggestions.

Thanks for your time.  Please let me know how I can be of assistance to you.  Have a great November!
